#TBT Brian Williams: My First Big Break

By Kevin Eck

In light of revelations by NBC anchor Brian Williams that he misremembered a story about a 2003 brush with death in a helicopter in Iraq, AdweekTV thought we’d celebrate Throwback Thursday by remembering our sit down with Williams where he told us how he got his first big break.

Williams sets up his story by telling us his first foray into local TV had failed. He said he was at rock-bottom both financially and professionally, until his road to the big chair opened up after getting a job as a chyron operator at WTTG in Washington, D.C. and meeting a news director named Betty Endicott.
