“After more than 10 years in Roanoke, I have accepted a job at NBC12 in Richmond,” Bahorich wrote on her facebook page. “I love my ‘DBJ family, but am excited to join this amazing team and start this next chapter!”

In 2013, Bahorich told WDBJ viewers during a weeknight newscast that she was undergoing treatment for ovarian cancer. She described chemotherapy, talked about losing her hair and even told viewers that she had some of her eggs harvested and frozen, in case the treatment caused early menopause.

On the lighter side, Bahorich also created a viral Internet sensation when she laughed through a news story about an 18-pound cat that had taken up swimming in order to lose weight. The clip of her gigglefest was shown on ABC’s “Good Morning America” and CNN’s “Anderson Cooper’s 360.”

“I am somebody who can laugh at myself,” Bahorich said at the time.
