Strong Tennessee Storms Destroy Home Shared by 2 WTVC Reporters

By Stephanie Tsoflias Siegel

As storms ripped through Chattanooga, Tenn., overnight, two WTVC MMJs, Bliss Zechman and Mariah Rock, were sleeping in their house until the awful weather made it to their block.

That’s when they experienced something they thought they might not survive, but they did.

The storm completely destroyed their home—but the two reporters and their four dogs made it out alive.

“Our house is completely destroyed. @MariahRockNC9 and I are safe, but very scared. We can’t get through to 911. Please pray for us and everyone affected,” Zechman tweeted on Sunday night after the storm hit.

Rock posted a similar message and photos which showed their home under a pile of trees.

“So currently my stomach is in knots. I feel like my roommate and I just survived something we’ll both never forget the rest of our lives. All that matters is that we are alive, and our dogs (4 to be exact) are too. Praying for all that experienced this night in the worst way,” Rock wrote.

They both were able to run to a neighbor’s house for safety overnight.

Severe storms in Tennessee and Georgia killed at least five people.
