Weigel Broadcasting has announced the addition of Tribune veteran Steve Farber to its team.
Farber has been named senior vice president of operations at the company, where he’ll oversee independent Chicago station WCIU and the company’s digital network operations.
“We are excited to welcome Steve to the Weigel family,” Norman Shapiro, chairman of Weigel Broadcasting, said in a statement. “He brings a rich background in broadcast and digital operations which fit perfectly within our current and future business plans.”

Farber spent the past 20 years at Tribune, most recently as senior vice president of operations. Before that, he was acting general manager at Chicago CW affiliate WGN.
Farber’s appointment is effective April 20.
