Steve Edwards’ Replacement for 9am Hour on Good Day LA Named

By Stephanie Tsoflias Siegel

Last week TVSpy reported longtime Good Day LA anchor Steve Edwards was let go from KTTV. He anchored from 7am-10am every weekday.

Today his replacement for the 9-10am hour was announced.

Rita Garcia will officially take Edwards’ place on the anchor desk alongside Megan Colarossi. Garcia comes from the Fox owned station KRIV in Houston, Texas. She starts today.

“Rita is an experienced journalist who is already familiar with the unique culture and landscape of Southern California, making her the perfect addition to the ‘Good Day LA’ morning team,” said news director Kristine Knutsen.

Garcia and Colarossi will make the second all female morning anchor team among the Fox owned stations. Rosanna Scotto and Lori Stokes co-anchor Good Day New York.

Prior to her time in Houston, Garcia was an anchor-reporter for KCBS-KCAL in Southern California. She filled in on the Good Day LA desk this fall.

The reason for Edwards firing has not yet been released. Anchor Tony McEwing has been co-anchoring the show with Colarossi from 7am-9am.
