Two stations in Phoenix are stepping up to help the unemployed find opportunities.

With a 800% jump in unemployment this week alone, KTVK and KPHO, the Meredith-owned stations in the market, hosted a virtual job fair.

The stations partnered with 20 local companies for the first Get That Gig Virtual Job Fair. Job seekers had the opportunity to apply for more than 9,000 immediately available positions.

“Positions vary from medical, construction, retail and banking to work-from-home opportunities that pay up to $40 an hour,” the stations said.

During the job fair, employers held Facebook Live sessions for job seekers. Anchors also gave best practice tips for interviewing via Skype.
