News about Detroit meteorologist Jessica Starr‘s untimely death hit the broadcast community hard yesterday.

Last night, WJBK aired a tribute to Starr, who took her own life on Wednesday.

“All of us here at FOX 2 are in deep shock and cannot believe that such a wonderful, bright and intelligent individual will no longer be with us. Her family and friends will be in our thoughts and prayers in the coming days as we all deal with our grief,” the station said in a statement.

Starr leaves behind a husband and two children. She had undergone Lasik Smile surgery in October and had suffered from complications in recent months. In November she told viewers she was struggling and asked for prayers.
