Lexington Station Given All Clear After Suspicious Package Found

A suspicious package was found in WKYT’s parking lot Thursday night.

Police had searched the building in Lexington, Ky. for two hours before employees were given the “all clear.”

“The call to Lexington police was made because a package found in the parking lot by live trucks 30 minutes after a man without an appointment at the station, demanded to speak to a reporter and was peeking into windows,” news director Robert Thomas said.

According to the station, the package had no postage and was addressed to “ABC News Director.”

Once opened police realized there was nothing to be concerned about. It contained a t-shirt saying “unite to fight childhood cancer.”

Police do not believe the sender meant any harm.

Newcasts continued without interruption during the investigation.
