Longtime St. Louis morning anchor, Pat McGonigle, will leave the station this week.

The St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports a notice went out to the KSDK newsroom last week. The Today in St. Louis anchor’s last day will be June 23.

According to the report, eight months ago the Tegna-owned NBC affiliate bumped sports director, Rene Knott, to the third co-anchor spot on the morning show which decreased McGonigle’s duties. He anchored one hour and then reported.

KSDK general manager Alicia Elsner told the paper Knott and Alexandra Corey would be the only anchors for now.

McGonigle, a St. Louis University and Emerson College grad, came to town from New York state in September 2011.

He says he is looking at other opportunities.
