St. Louis Anchor to Keep Job as Government Spokesperson

Sara Dayley is the public liaison for West County EMS & Fire Protection District. She’s also going to be the weekend morning anchor for St. Louis Fox affiliate KTVI.

The setup presents some interesting possibilities for a conflict of interest when she starts on Saturday, April 30.

“We’re even more cognizant (of bias), because we don’t want to appear to have any kind of bias,” [news director Audrey] Prywitch told the St. Louis Post-Dispatch.

She said Dayley will not read stories directly involving the fire district; those would be handled by co-anchor Anne Elise Parks.

When asked how the station would handle more general stories that could arise, such as county government issues or tax increases in other districts, Prywitch said it would be “an experiment.”

“Not everything you do works out,” she said. “We hope this will.”

Dayley started her career at KSDK in St. Louis before taking the job at the fire district.
