St. Louis Anchor Leaving After Less Than a Year on Desk

KMOV anchor Alissa Reitmeier is leaving the St. Louis CBS affiliate, nine months after being named anchor.

“News director Brian Thouvenot said Reitmeier’s husband has taken a job in Birmingham, Ala.,” reports the St. Louis Post-Dispatch. “And the anchor (and their baby boy, Benjamin) will be moving as well.”

Reitmeier worked at WINK in Fort Myers, Fla. before joining KMOV in March 2014.

Her promotion to the main anchor desk alongside Steve Savard in October was the second shoe to drop in the machinations to replace Sharon Reed as the co-anchor for the 6 p.m. and 10 p.m. shifts.

The first shoe fell in late September when Jasmine Huda quit the station after being told by station honchos that she was not going to be offered the main co-anchor gig. Huda joined KTVI (Channel 2) in January as co-anchor of its new 11 p.m. weekday newscast.

In a statement, station general manager Mike Murphy said, “Alissa will be missed at KMOV, not only because of her poise and comfort on the anchor desk with Steve Savard, but also because she is a wonderful person.”
