Spokane Anchor Retires, Eyes Mayoral Run

By Stephanie Tsoflias Siegel

Champagne and a possible mayoral run. That’s how KXLY anchor Nadine Woodward is celebrating her retirement in Spokane, Wash.

According to the Spokesman-Review, Woodward said there are plenty of things she’ll be thinking about before making a decision.

On her way to Hawaii, this week she tweeted a photo of a champagne glass and city studies on homelessness.

“What a surprise! A champagne toast to my TV News retirement from everyone onboard my @AlaskaAir flight to Kauai,” she wrote.

If Woodward runs for mayor, she wouldn’t be the first news reporter in the market to do so.

Ron Bair, a former anchor, was elected mayor in 1977 and served one term. Reporter Tom Grant ran for mayor in 2003, but lost.
