The Clinton campaign is paying $10 million to run its campaign ads on some local stations this summer to promote Hillary’s run for president.

The Virginian-Pilot reports the same :30 and :60 spots are airing in the battleground states of North Carolina, Florida, Colorado, Iowa, Pennsylvania, Nevada and New Hampshire.

Hampton Roads viewers can expect to see almost 1,000 of her spots in June and July.

Clinton’s campaign declined to discuss where it was focusing attention in Virginia. But political ad invoices, which stations are require to file with the FCC, indicate the marketing effort is aimed at parts of the state where the presidential contest may be the most competitive.

In addition to commercials in southeast Virginia, close to 1,200 spots were bought in the far west of the state at TV stations in the Roanoke-Lynchburg area and Harrisonburg. Charlottesville will see a few hundred commercials. Little commercial time was purchased in Richmond, where ads are running on a local independent channel but not the network affiliates.

By comparison, presumptive Republican nominee Donald Trump has not bought any commercial time on Virginia’s TV stations in months.
