Social Media Tips From WBTV Reporter Kristen Hampton

By Stephanie Tsoflias Siegel

WBTV Good News reporter, Kristen Hampton, started her franchise segment in Charlotte, North Carolina in 2008.

“I wanted to show people something good. I pitched it to my news director and he said let’s try it for two weeks,” she told TVSpy.

Nine years later the segment is still going strong and Hampton is an international social media superstar. She’s made her mark doing Facebook Live videos from her car, which she calls her office, as an MMJ for the Raycom station. But the most successful yet has been her snarky ‘3 Second Brow’ product test. The 30 minute Facebook Live video has received over 6.5 million views from around the world. It helps that Hampton is funny.

Since that video, she has become the model of how to be ‘real’ in social media video at Raycom, the company that owns her station and at Facebook.

Today, Stephanie Tsoflias Siegel had a Skype conversation with Hampton about the video – it turned into a brow tutorial. Watch the uncut video (we did this for learning purposes) as Hampton gives reporters tips on how to do better live videos. She eventually helped Stephanie with her brows too.

It’s worth noting that she Facebook Lived the interview so her followers could weigh in. At last check, the video had 7,800 views on her Facebook page.
