Eric Land has been named gm of Sinclair’s WBMA (ABC) WTTO (CW) and WABM (MyNetworkTV) in Birmingham, Ala. Land will also oversee WDBB, which simulcasts WTTO programming, as part of a time brokerage agreement.

“I am looking forward to working with the talented team of professionals in Birmingham,” said Land. “Combined with Sinclair television group’s reach, scale and leadership, we plan to build enhanced value for our viewers, valued clients and the communities that makeup the Birmingham-Tuscaloosa-Anniston markets utilizing not only over-the-air television but our vast array of digital and mobile capabilities.”

Between 2012 and 2014, Land was gm of WTLV-WJXX in Jacksonville, Fla. Before that, he was president and CEO of Walkabout Air Aviation in Tampa, Fla. He’s also worked as COO of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Land’s local TV experience also includes a stretch as gm of WFLA in Tampa, WIAT in Birmingham, Ala., WGRZ in Buffalo, N.Y. and WEYI in Saginaw, Mich.

He replaces Mike Murphy, who left to be gm of KMOV in St. Louis in February.
