Seth Kovar Joining WDBJ Anchor Desk as Station ‘Beefs Up’ Morning Newscast

By Andrew Gauthier

Seth Kovar will debut as WDBJ‘s new morning anchor on Monday, as the Roanoke-Lynchburg CBS-affiliate adds more resources to its a.m. newscast.

Kovar comes to WDBJ from KXXV in Waco, where he also worked as a morning anchor.  He’s been working behind-the-scenes at WDBJ since last week.

“Many stations have now recognized the critical importance of the morning block as the newscast that really kicks off the coverage tone for the entire day and, like us, have or are beefing up resources,” WDBJ news director Dan Dennison told The Roanoke Times recently.

WDBJ will now have a four-person morning news team as Kovar joins veteran Kimberly McBroom at the anchor desk, along with meteorologist Leo Hirsbrunner and reporter Bob Grebe.
