Senator Responds to NBC Boston Expanding OTA Signal, Wants More

By Kevin Eck

Massachusetts Senator Ed Markey responded to Comcast/NBCUniversal’s announcement today it was expanding its over the air signal to reach more Boston viewers.

“I appreciate Comcast-NBCUniversal taking additional steps at my urging to temporarily expand the reach of its signal to cover most residents in Massachusetts and its stated intention to find a permanent solution to ensure full coverage of the market as soon as possible,” Markey wrote in a statement. “I will continue to urge Comcast-NBCUniversal to ensure that all residents throughout the region can enjoy the same quality and reliability of free, over-the-air NBC content as soon as possible.”

Last week Markey asked Comcast CEO Brian Roberts to say how the new NBC-owned station would reach viewers through its over-the-air signal, expressing doubts the NBC signal would match the signal from current NBC affiliate WHDH.
