Scripps Stations Team Up to Help Senior Center Lost in Baltimore Riot

By Kevin Eck

Pastor Donte Hickman was on Baltimore ABC affiliate WMAR, talking about the fire that destroyed the future senior housing center he and his church had been working on for the last eight years.

WMAR, along with Indianapolis ABC affiliate WRTV teamed up to connect Hickman with Dr. Michael J. Bluitt, who runs one of the biggest church architecture firms in the U.S.

Anchor Jamie Costello asked Hickman if he believed in miracles before they went to Bluitt in the WRTV newsroom.

Bluitt offered Hickman a “free conceptual rendering and design consultation, valued at about $40,000” to help get the senior center rebuilt.

Hickman was so moved, he couldn’t speak. He then thanked everyone involved.
