Rhonda LaVelle has been named news director for Detroit ABC affiliate WXYZ.
LaVelle comes from KPRC in Houston, where she was named news director in July 2014 after joining the station in March from WDIV.
She takes over for Dave Manney who was named news director in December 2013.

“I have loved every minute here in Houston,” Lavelle told staffers in a memo according to Mike McGuff. “We have done some great things and I know you will continue to do so. I am very proud to have been a part of such a great team.”
