Scripps Names Investigative Reporter for Florida Stations

Starting in September, Katie LaGrone will be the investigative reporter for all three of E.W. Scripps’ Florida stations.

“As Florida Investigative Correspondent, LaGrone will continue her investigative work exposing a wide range of consumer injustices, questionable government spending and consumer safety concerns,” said Scripps. “Audiences of WPTV, the Scripps top-ranked station in West Palm Beach, Florida, already are very familiar with her work.”

“Investigative journalism is fundamentally important to Scripps,” said Sean McLaughlin, vp of news for Scripps. “Katie has served the WPTV market well with her investigations and we recognize that the scope of her work has far-reaching benefits for all of Florida. With her new focus she has greater latitude to delve into stories that will get Floridians talking. Katie LaGrone will be the watchdog looking out for those communities.”

LaGrone, who used to work at WPTV, will work out of WFTS in Tampa. Her husband, Paul took a job with WFTS in April. He was working at WPBF in West Palm Beach, Fla.
