Chip Mahaney has been named national director of news recruitment for E.W. Scripps Company.
Mahaney will head up the search for news directors, assistant news directors and executive producers for the 24 Scripps markets with local news.
“Chip is exactly the right person for this newly created position,” said Sean McLaughlin, Scripps’ vp of news. “He knows this business. He is extremely well-connected in the industry, and he understands the Scripps culture and the types of people who will be successful in our company.”
Since joining Scripps in 2008, Mahaney has worked as director of digital content, senior director of local operations and regional general manager of the digital division. He’s worked at KTBC in Austin, Texas, KOTV in Tulsa, Okla., KDFW in Dallas, Texas and WTVR in Richmond, Va.
