Scripps has responded after TVSpy checked in with the station group about rumored layoffs at Phoenix ABC affiliate KNXV.
A Scripps spokesperson told TVSpy the station group is doing some “minor restructuring.” They added, “As our industry is evolving, our roles need to evolve too, so we are restructuring some positions and eliminating others in an on-going effort to meet the needs of our Phoenix audiences. New jobs also will be created at the station, focusing on the multi-media delivery of community-changing local journalism there.”
Scripps also told TVSpy “restructuring” meant the shift from “a certain set of jobs to another set of jobs,” but wouldn’t say which jobs had been eliminated.
Scripps merger with Journal was officially completed in April.
