Sandra Thomas, the woman who oversaw news content for Univision affiliates, is no longer with the Spanish language network.
Media Moves reports Univision Television Group president Kevin Cuddihy and the company’s president of News Isaac Lee made the announcement in an email sent to staffers.
“Sandra has been a great leader at our organization and her tireless work, collaborative spirit and dedication to our mission have made an incredible impact. Please join us in thanking her and wishing her the best in her new endeavors.”
AdvertisementIn the brief message, the execs state: “All of these efforts continue to build on Univision’s strategy of flattening the organization and becoming a leaner, more responsive, efficient and dynamic company that is open to constant change.”
Thomas was appointed senior director of local and affiliate news at Univision in June of 2011. She had worked at Univision for 14 years.
On Tuesday, Luis Fernandez, the president of Entertainment and Univision Studios also left the company. According to Variety, the moves may be financially motivated:
Univision is said to be in talks with banks about an initial public offering, which may come in the second half of 2014. Univision was taken private by a group of equity investors comprising Haim Saban’s Saban Capital Group, Madison Dearborn Partners, Providence Equity Partners, TPG Capital and Thomas H. Lee Partners for $13.7 billion, including an assumption of $1.4 billion in debt, in 2007.
