KENS-TV, the San Antonio CBS-Affiliate, has named Jeff Vaughn as its new evening news anchor.Vaughn, who most recently served as a morning news anchor for KSHB in Kansas City, Mo., will fill the seat vacated by legendary San Antonio anchor Chris Marrou. Marrou is retiring from KENS after 36 years on the air.

“As we turn the corner on a new era in KENS 5 television, I am extremely pleased and excited about Jeff joining our team,” said KENS news director Kurt Davis.

In making the announcement, KENS president and general manager Bob McGann added, “We are elated to have a journalist of Jeff’s caliber joining the KENS 5 team.”

For Vaughn, it’s somewhat of a homecoming. He previously served as an anchor and reporter for Lubbock’s KCBD and was a reporter at Midland’s KMID. “I’m happy to be coming back to Texas, and my wife and I can’t wait to move to San Antonio,” Vaughn said.

Starting January 4th, San Antonio viewers will see Vaughn at the anchor desk for KENS’s “Eyewitness News” broadcasts at 5, 6, and 10.
