San Antonio Stations Adding More News

The NBC, Fox and ABC affiliates in San Antonio, Texas plan to give viewers more local news.

Starting Monday, March 27 ABC affiliate KSAT will add a 9 a.m. show anchored by Leslie Mouton and Mark Austin. The move will bump Live with Kelly and The View up an hour.

“It will be different from our other newscasts, and will be perfect for college-age viewers and work-at-home moms who can’t always watch so early in the morning,” said news director Bernice Kearney-Bonner.

Sinclair-owned station NBC affiliate WOAI will add a half-hour to its Noon newscast anchored by Leslie Bohl and Michael Garofalo, while sister station Fox affiliate KABB will add thirty minutes to its 11 a.m., which will be anchored by Jessica Headley and Ernie Zuniga (pictured).

“In the case of local origination news programming, more is better,” WOAI General Manager John Seabers said as reported by The San Antonio Express-News. “We are proud of our award-winning news products and pleased we can bring these extended broadcasts to the viewers in San Antonio and our many surrounding cities and communities from Del Rio to Kerrville and all points in between.”

“With the ever-growing appetite for local news,” said KABB GM Dean Radla. “The expansion to a full hour was the next logical step.”
