WBOC morning anchor Kimberly Holmes-Iverson sets five alarms to make sure she wakes up and gets to work on time.
It’s just one of the things Holmes-Iverson, the face of the morning show in Salisbury, Md., revealed in a video diary for Allure magazine.
By 12:50 a.m., the journalist is awake and eating breakfast. “Look at what my husband does before he goes to bed—he makes me breakfast burritos!” she said. Then she gives her dog a treat before heading into the studio around 1:15 a.m.
When she gets to work, Holmes-Iverson sanitizes everything before getting to work helping her producer write the show.
She gets camera-ready at about 3:30 a.m. During the height of the pandemic, Holmes-Iverson says she couldn’t see her stylist, so she experimented with natural hair styles.
Less than an hour before the show, Holmes-Iverson is finished with her hair and makeup and records some radio segments. She gets on set before 5 a.m. to cover the news live until 7 a.m., but her day isn’t over then. In a small market like Salisbury, she also works on content for other shows. Holmes-Iverson is also a college adjunct professor at Salisbury University and at the University of Maryland Eastern Shore.
