Sacramento NBC affiliate KCRA and MyNewtorkTV affiliate KQCA along with the Capital Region Chapter of the American Red Cross are raising money for those affected by Typhoon Haiyan.

“The devastation in the Philippines is overwhelming. Hour by hour, our viewers are seeing the tragic pictures of that battered region and they want to help,” said KCRA 3 news director Lori Waldon in a statement. “We are happy to provide a way for our viewers to help the typhoon victims. There is such incredible generosity in our community.”

The stations are hosting live cut-ins throughout the day today asking viewers for donations. The cut-ins started at 6:00 a.m. and will run until 7:00 p.m. As of the Noon news, the effort had raised $208,474.
