Sacramento Anchor Moving to Atlanta NBC Affiliate

KOVR anchor Ron Jones is leaving Sacramento to work at Atlanta’s WXIA.

“I truly am going to miss everyone here,” Jones said after the crew of CW affiliate KMAX announced his departure to Sarah Mclaughlin music which then switched to Celebrate by Kool & the Gang after Jones said he felt like he was at his own wake.

The Sacramento Bee reports Jones will be the weekend anchor at the Atlanta NBC affiliate.

Jones has worked at KOVR since 2004. He was an Oakland Police officer before starting his TV career at WDBJ in Roanoke, Va. He’s also worked at KPIX in San Francisco and KCRA in Sacramento.

“@ronjonesreports rode off into the sunrise this morning after his final show on #CBS13,” the station posted on instagram. “He now heads to his next TV gig, in Atlanta. The folks at @11alive are lucky to be getting him! Good luck, Ron!”
