Ron Jones Named KOVR Morning Co-Anchor

Ron Jones has been promoted to morning co-anchor at KOVR, the CBS owned station in Sacramento. He will co-anchor alongside Audrey Asistio and meteorologist Laura Skirde beginning October 21.

“Ron has a fascinating background along with a warm and engaging style. He’s a familiar face to our viewers and we’re excited to bring his depth of experience to morning news,” KOVR general manager Kevin Walsh said in a statement.

Jones is a former Army sergeant who has worked at stations in Roanoke and San Francisco. He joined KOVR in 2004 as a general assignment reporter. He has been anchoring the station’s weekend newscasts for the past eight years.

“I couldn’t be more excited to join the morning anchor desk with Audrey and Laura,” Jones said. “I look forward to getting answers for our viewers each morning as they start their day.”

Ron Jones Named Co-Anchor for “CBS13 News This Morning”

Ron Jones, a reporter and weekend anchor for CBS13 in Sacramento, will be waking up earlier each day to co-anchor the “CBS13 News This Morning.” His new position, alongside Audrey Asistio and meteorologist Laura Skirde, begins Monday, October 21.

“Ron’s strength as an anchor and his upbeat personality will be a great fit with our morning team” said Tom Bell, News Director for CBS13.

Jones has been with CBS13 since 2004, where he has developed a reputation as a solid reporter who always gets “the big interview.” He has anchored the station’s weekend newscasts for the past eight years.

A former Army sergeant, Ron began his television career in 1998 while working as a sergeant of police in Oakland. He appeared in a series of crime prevention commercials as well as a local public affairs show. That experience behind the camera led Jones to change careers and work as a reporter/anchor in Roanoke, Sacramento and San Francisco.

The “CBS13 News This Morning” airs weekday mornings from 5-7am.
