WTVF meteorologist Ron Howes said goodbye to viewers last night after 36 years at the Nashville, Tenn. CBS affiliate.

“What kept me coming back here?” Howes asked. “I guess the best answer to that is that I’ve always felt appreciated.”

During his on-air goodbye, Howes thanked his family and his colleagues at the station.

His first job in TV was at WTWO in Terre Haute, Ind. and moved on to WOTV in Grand Rapids, Mich. before joining WTVF in 1980.

“I’m just gonna miss him,” said Vick Yates. “He’s a comfort, he’s strong and he’s just there. He’s just a great friend.”
