Brittany Hardaway will join Rockford, Ill. NBC affiliate WREX as an evening anchor on Thursday.
Hardaway will join James Stratton, Alex Kirchner and Derek Bayne at 5, 6 and 10 p.m. Monday through Friday starting July 1.
“We are so happy Brittany Hardaway will join our team,” said Ed Reams, WREX general manager. “She knows Illinois, so her experience and perspective will be a great addition to our newsroom.”
Hardaway last worked as a morning anchor and reporter at WICS in Springfield, Ill. Before that, she was a weekend anchor and reporter at WBBJ in Jackson, Tenn. She also worked as an associate producer at WSIL in Carbondale, Ill.
“I’m no stranger to the great state of Illinois, growing up on the south side of Chicago and working in Southern and Central Illinois,” said Hardaway. “This seems like a full circle moment to grow up in Illinois and now anchor and report in the state I love so much!”
