Viewers of Rochester’s CBS affiliate, WROC and FOX affiliate, WUHF got a clearer view of the news last night when both stations began broadcasting in high definition.
“High definition is obviously state-of-the-art,” said WROC vice president and general manager Louis A. Gattozzi. “You see it at the network level, and this is a continuation of our commitment to deliver the highest quality newscast in every respect. We are delighted to be able to now offer our viewers technically superior newscasts from this day forward.”
WROC announced plans last month to upgrade its signal, broadcasting its news from a temporary set until the new HD package was ready to air. WUHF also made the leap to HD since its operated by WROC under a shared service agreement.
“This is where we start in taking our newscasts to the next level, and I hope the viewers see that,” added News Director Bryan Queen.
Both stations plan on upgrading station programming and commercials in the new format in the near future.
