Robin Roberts had an emotional moment on Good Morning America this morning when she told viewers about her sister, Sally-Ann Roberts‘ plans to retire as morning anchor from WWL-TV in New Orleans after 40 years.
“These are tears of joy,’ she said. ‘My sister is very excited about that next chapter.”
In her retirement announcement, Sally-Ann told her viewers “I don’t know what the future holds but I look forward to continuing to serve this community in the years to come and spend more time with my grandchildren.”
Robin said her big sister is the reason she got into broadcasting and the reason she’s alive and thriving today.
“She was my bone marrow donor.”
Sally-Ann joined the station in 1977. Her last WWL newscast will be on February 28.
