Richard Roeper Joins WFLD

By Kevin Eck

In August, we told you it might happen. Now it’s almost official: Richard Roeper is joining Chicago Fox-owned station WFLD as a host of Good Day Chicago.

Roeper was one of many local celebs brought in to audition for the job. He’s a film critic for the Chicago Sun Times and was one half of the famous movie reviewing duo of Ebert and Roeper on the show At The Movies. He’ll work the 6 a.m. to 10 a.m. shift alongside Corey McPherrin and Darlene Hill.

Chicago media guy Robert Feder, who first reported the actual hire, writes Roeper is expected to leave his job as a freelancer on Windy City Live on WLS.

Sources tell TVSpy Roeper’s contract will be finalized today and he’s expected to start sometime this week, though he won’t be on the air until late October.
