Retiring from Detroit’s WXYZ, Anchor Looks to Future

Robbie Timmons is regarded as a consummate professional who has delivered the news to Channel 7 viewers for 28 years. But the WXYZ-TV anchor is ready for change, so on Thursday she’s retiring. Her departure comes on the heels of the departure of long-time Channel 7 meteorologist Jerry Hodak, who took his final bow Sept. 23.

Retirement doesnt always mean slowing down.

For Timmons it is switching gears and diverting her energy to the nonprofit the Communication Alliance to Network Thoroughbred Ex-Racehorses (CANTER) that rescues former race horses. More…
