Desiree Fontaine, the WTNH-TV traffic reporter accused of shoplifting from Sears in the Westfield Connecticut Post mall Sunday, told police that she was a freelance reporter working on something “on the side.”
Fontaine, 33, was found in Sears with several items in her possession, including a Hawaiian shirt, a bottle of cologne, two pairs of earrings and a necklace, according to the police report released Wednesday.

She had removed the tags from the items, police said. More…
