Albuquerque reporter Ilana Gold was arrested early Wednesday morning and charged with battery after her cage fighter ex-boyfriend called the police saying that he was afraid of what the 5-foot-tall Gold would do to him. Gold joined KOAT, the Hearst-owned ABC-affiliate, in 2007 as a general assignment reporter.

Police arrived at Joey Villaseor’s apartment to find the 185-pound professional cage fighter locked in an apparent domestic dispute with Gold, a petite, former champion figure skater. According to the Albuquerque Journal, Gold had pulled the draw string out of Villaseor’s hooded sweatshirt and refused to give him his garage door opener back.

“They arrested Ilana and put her in jail for pulling a string out of a sweatshirt,” Gold’s attorney Sam Bregman told the Journal. “I would hope that the Albuquerque Police Department would have more serious incidents it needs to dedicate its time to.”

Gold and Villaseor had been dating for four months before their relationship ended about a month ago. KOAT management has not yet commented on the incident.
