Reno has its first ever female chief meteorologist.

KRNV has promoted morning meteorologist Cassie Wilson to its main weather anchor position for both the NBC and FOX affiliates.

“Cassie is a scientist and educator turned communicator. We are so proud of her work and her abilities as the first female chief meteorologist in the Reno market,” said news director Scott Fitzgerald.

Wilson started her on air career at the Sinclair owned station in 2015.

“I’m beyond honored and ecstatic to move into the role of Chief Meteorologist here at @KRNV & @fox11reno. Thank you so much for allowing me to be a part of your mornings! This is not good bye, it’s just see you later…,” Wilson said in a Tweet.

She starts as chief on May 7.
