Rape Charges Against Former WDBJ Reporter to be Dropped

By Kevin Eck

Former WDBJ reporter Orlando Salinas is out of jail after being released Friday evening, nearly five months after being charged with rape and forcible sodomy.

The Roanoke, Va. CBS affiliate where Salinas used to work reports Salinas’ lawyer said she was told the prosecutor’s office would drop the charges during a hearing this week. He had been accused of raping a 64-year-old woman who uses a walker to get around.

Salinas, who maintained his innocence, worked at WDBJ from 2012 until he was fired for insubordination in 2015. He was arrested in July.
