Providence’s WLNE Adds Veteran Anchor

Veteran news anchor and journalist Andrew Gobeil is joining WLNE-TV / ABC6 in Providence. Beginning Wednesday October 21st, Andrew will be joining Doreen Scanlon weekday mornings between five and eight to co-anchor Good Morning Providence. The announcement was made today in Providence by WLNE-TV Vice President and General Manager Steve Doerr.

“Im thrilled to have the opportunity to work for the station I grew up watching as a child,” Gobeil said. “Doreen is a pro, I look forward to joining her at the desk weekday mornings to inform and entertain our viewers. It’s going to be a fun show to work on, and to watch.”


The Southern New England native is a graduate of Fitchburg State College.

A seasoned anchor and reporter, his wide range of experience includes time at stations in Las Vegas, Greenville, and Mobile. Gobeil also served as Managing Editor for South Carolina Educational TV and as Chief National Correspondent for the Meredith Broadcast Group’s Washington DC bureau. More…
