The ABC affiliate in Providence, Rhone Island, has named a sports director replacement.

Nick Coit will be WLNE‘s new lead sports anchor when Ken Bell retires at the end of July.

“I am thrilled and humbled to have the opportunity to become the next Sports Director at ABC6,” said Coit.  “These past few years covering sports in Rhode Island/Southern New England have been a true joy. As the success of the New England Patriots, our four local Division I universities, our high school athletes and other local teams continues, I look forward to following the athletes and telling the stories that make this such an exciting area.”

Coit is from Rhone Island.  He graduated from Emerson College in 2011 with a degree in Broadcast Journalism. Before joining the team at ABC6 in February of 2014, he spent time at WFXT-TV in Boston as a Sports Producer, and at WABI-TV in Bangor, ME as a Sports Anchor/Reporter.

In May, the station announced Bell would be retiring from the station after 35 years.
