A Providence, R.I. reporter is still in shock after she suffered a stroke last week—at just 27.

Less than a month into our marriage, we really tested out the “in sickness and in health” part of our vows this week.
On Tuesday morning, I had a stroke. An otherwise healthy 27-year-old, it was absolutely terrifying. Thankfully, Travis immediately recognized something was wrong and swiftly worked to get me help. Because of his quick work in calling 911, he quite literally saved my life.
With my parents and sister, we spent the week in the hospital. I am so incredibly grateful to the doctors and nurses at both @norwoodhospital and @bostonmedicalcenter for caring for me and my family during such a difficult time.
We are now home, watching football, and feeling lucky. My doctors are still searching for more answers, but the good news is — I’m okay. I can walk and talk, and I still have my strength. It feels weird to say I’ve had a stroke, but this week reminded me how lucky I am to be surrounded by the people I have in my life. Thank you to everyone who has prayed or reached out.

Goggin is off the air to recover. She is a Penn State graduate. Prior to her time in Providence, Goggin worked as a reporter in Binghamton, N.Y.
