Portland Station Brings on Former Oregon Quarterback

By Kevin Eck

Former NFL and Oregon Ducks quarterback Joey Harrington will be a part-time reporter and contributor for Portland NBC station KGW starting tomorrow.

The TEGNA-owned station confirmed with TVSpy, Harrington will do inspirational stories about people living in the market. He’ll also “be heavily involved on the digital and social side, contributing across all platforms.”

KGW will also use the FOX Sports analyst for big sports stories. He played in the NFL for six seasons and was the starting quarterback at Oregon for three years.

Harrington wrote an opinion piece on Sports Illustrated.com where he said his NFL career was a “huge success.”

“Not so much because of what I achieved or didn’t achieve, but in how it set me up for the rest of my life,” he wrote. “In my mind, the only time you can view someone’s football career as a failure is if they didn’t use their success as a platform to better the world around them.”
