By Kevin Eck

Portland, Ore. investigative reporter Wright Gazaway is moving to the anchor desk at KATU.

While he will continue working as the chief investigative journalist for the Sinclair owned ABC affiliate, Gazaway will now co-anchor alongside Debora Knapp on the station’s 4 p.m. newscast. He replaces Lincoln Graves who moved to Sinclair’s station in Salt Lake City (KUTV).

Gazaway has been working at Portland’s ABC station as an investigative reporter since June 2020. Before joining the station, he worked at WTOC in Savannah, Ga., and at WALB in Albany, Ga., before that.

His focus on police reform and officer training in the Portland region led to a one-hour documentary, Sworn to Protect: A Difficult Conversation and a 10-part news series on gun violence in Portland.

Gazaway won an Emmy in Georgia and has also been recognized for his excellence by the Georgia Associated Press.
