Poll: Networks, Cable ‘Take a Back Seat’ to Local News for Trust

By Mark Joyella

Local news beat network news in terms of trust, according to a poll released Monday by Quinnipiac University. Local fared very well, with 19% of respondents saying they trust their local news “a great deal,” and 52% said “somewhat.”

That’s compared to the most-trusted news network, Fox, which 20% said they trusted “a great deal,” and 35% “somewhat.” (Fox News was also the highest-ranked when Americans were asked which news they trusted least)

“FOX News may be the most trusted in the network and cable news race, but they all take a back seat to your local news,” said Tim Malloy, assistant director of the Quinnipiac University Poll.
