Political Campaigns Book $5.6M in Cincinnati Commercials

From now until the Nov. 2 election, television viewers in Greater Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky should expect an onslaught of political ads during local news and sports programming.

In the final two months of the campaign, candidates and political groups have booked thousands of TV spots worth more than $5.6 million, according to a review of political advertising files at Cincinnati’s five largest TV stations: WKRC, WCPO, WLWT, WXIX and WSTR.

The ad buys are fluid: The campaigns are essentially reserving the air time, and they are free to decrease or increase the size of the ad buy as the campaign develops. More…
