KDKA-TV has hired a co-anchor to work mornings alongside Jennifer Antkowiak. Rick Dayton, formerly of WOWK in the Charleston-Huntington, W. Va., market, will start next week at the same time Antkowiak does.

Dayton, a Grove City native and graduate of The College of Wooster in Ohio, will follow former KDKA morning anchor Keith Jones for the second time in his career: Dayton succeeded Jones as lead evening anchor at WOWK when Jones returned to Pittsburgh to work mornings at KDKA-TV in 2005.

“I talked to Keith last week and told him it looked like I was following behind him and I wondered if he had any real estate to sell,” Dayton said by phone yesterday.

Dayton will anchor morning newscasts on KDKA and WPCW and do some reporting for later newscasts. More…
