Photos and Facebook Live Show Massive Damage Inside KTVA

By Stephanie Tsoflias Siegel

We’re beginning to see how the Anchorage earthquake hit newsrooms.

KTVA reporter Cassie Schirm posted a photo from inside the CBS affiliate’s newsroom in the aftermath.

In the picture, you can see flat screens which were once on the wall on the ground, computers knocked over and debris from the ceiling across the newsroom.

The station is also streaming live on Facebook from outside the building, and walked viewers through the building to show the damage.

“We are going to try to get on the air now,” said someone from the station during the live hit from inside a badly damaged studio.

The walk through showed massive water damage from pipes that burst, cameras on the floor in the studio, glass panels from edit bays down.

The station got back on the air around 11 a.m. local time. We will update information as it comes in.
