Philip Bruce is returning to Houston’s KHOU, where he’s been named executive news director.

Bruce, who most recently has worked as a senior network news manager for NPR, was previously with KHOU from 1985-1995, serving as a reporter as well as the station’s Washington bureau chief.

“Philip knows the television news business from all angles behind the desk and in the trenches,” said Susan McEldoon, KHOU’s president and general manager. “His experience in top ten markets is extensive and we are looking forward to his return to Houston and his KHOU family.”

While he’s spent time in several major market, Bruce is happy to be back in Houston.
