WWSI, Telemundo 62 is launching a 30-minute weekday 5 p.m. newscast next Monday.

The Philadelphia market’s only newscast at that time will be anchored by Iris Delgado.

“We are thrilled that Iris Delgado will lead our 5 PM newscast,” said WCAU and Telemundo 62 president and GM Ric Harris. “We also look forward to expanding our coverage for our viewers so they can be even more connected to what is happening in their communities.”

Delgado started at Telemundo 62 in 2013. She was part of the news team that helped to launch the station’s first Spanish-language newscasts two years ago. She’ll continue reporting for WWSI’s weekday newscasts at 6 p.m. and 11 p.m.

“I am excited to serve our viewers in this new capacity and provide extensive coverage of our region now at 5 PM,” said Delgado. “There is a need for more news and weather information and this is our way of answering and meeting our viewers’ needs.”
